St. Olaf College
A small private college in Northfield, Minnesota, with about 3000 students, St. Olaf is known for its award-winning music ensembles as well as its strength in mathematics, sciences, fine arts, and Scandinavian languages. They offer scholarships in all areas of performing and visual arts.

University of California, Irvine
UCI has the penultimate SoCal vibe: laid-back yet bustling, intellectual, quirky, smart, social, and friendly, with gorgeous views of green, grassy spaces, rolling hills, tall trees, and even mountains in the background. UCI used to be a “backup” school 15-20 years ago, but it’s now the third-most selective school in the UC system, with an in-state acceptance rate of under 20%! Three of its majors are even more selective: Computer Science, Business (two majors), and Nursing, which has an acceptance rate of 1.6% and is one of the best in the nation. Read more here: UCI Tour

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo
Cal Poly SLO (as we call it here in California) is one of the "hottest" STEM schools in the country. Californians and others flock to this gem of a school for its hands-on STEM education with almost guaranteed job placement upon graduation. Surprisingly, two of the most selective majors are Psychology and Business, but their engineering and CS programs are also extremely well-known and competitive. Read more here: Cal Poly SLO Tour

University of Southern California
In the heart of Los Angeles, this large private university is known for its strong academics, world-class film school (complete with 4 sound stages and an editing base that's open 24/7), and multiple athletic teams. Surprisingly, with 23 schools and almost 130 majors, USC's campus is actually quite compact, and you can walk it end to end in 15 minutes. Read more here: USC Tour

Chapman University
Chapman is practically picture-perfect! Not only is its campus pristine, but its location in the heart of Orange County couldn't be any better! Chapman's world famous Film Production major is extremely competitive with a 6-7% acceptance rate. Other popular majors include business (its largest school), healthcare management, and psychology. Chapman also has a gorgeous law school that many business and econ majors are eager to join after graduation.

UCSD (Univ. of California, San Diego)
UCSD has 8 colleges within the university, and you choose your college based on the GE requirements. Pictured is the very modern-looking Sixth College, which focuses on arts and technology. UCSD overlooks the Pacific Ocean, and contrary to its reputation of being "socially dead" (thus, the "SD" in UCSD), it was very lively the day I toured! Its engineering is top-ranked and cutting-edge, oh, and also very selective, as are Data Science and Public Health. It's a diverse campus with adventurous students (25% study abroad). Beautifully situated in America's Finest City (though technically, it's in La Jolla), it's a gem worth exploring! Read more here: UCSD Tour
